The PU paint manufacturer will introduce to you what exactly is seat foam?
- 2021-12-08-
Seat foam generally refers to PU foam, which has high-quality characteristics such as light weight, high strength, low thermal conductivity, shock resistance, sound absorption, oil resistance, and corrosion resistance. Is the material of choice for car seats, so what exactly is polyurethane foam? The PU pigment manufacturer will take you to find out.
Polyurethane foam is mainly made of two-component materials plus corresponding additives and other small materials, which are foamed through a mold. The two components specifically refer to the ISO isocyanate part (also known as black material or B material) and polyether composite material POLY part (also known as white material or A material). Isocyanate-ISO is actually TDI (toluene diisocyanate), MDI (polymethylene polyphenyl polyisocyanate), TM/MT;
And polyether-POLY is polyether polyol (basic polyether) and polymer polyol (POP). According to different requirements, other additives are needed in the whole production process: such as blowing agent, crosslinking agent, catalyst, foam stabilizer, cell opener and antioxidant, flame retardant, etc.
So what are the types of PU foam?
1. According to different raw materials and formula changes, it is divided into soft, semi-rigid and rigid foam. Soft foams are generally used in seats, headrests, and carpets; semi-rigid foams are commonly used in armrests and steering wheels; and rigid foams are commonly used in steering wheel cores.
2. According to the classification of polyols, it is divided into polyester type and polyether type.
3. According to different classifications of ISO: TDI, TM, MT, MDI, FAW-Volkswagen foam multi-purpose MDI system. The MDI system has many advantages, such as relatively high activity and fast reaction speed; low dependence on mold temperature and can be produced at low mold temperature; fast post-curing; excellent physical properties, especially aging resistance; relatively good tear strength Poor, but it also has so many advantages. The MDI system is relatively expensive; the density of manufactured products is relatively high, and the cost is relatively high.
4. According to the classification of foaming method, it can be divided into block foam, molded and sprayed polyurethane foam. Bulk foam is also syntactic foam; molding is often used in seats, armrests and headrests; spraying is generally used on surfaces with higher appearance requirements, such as steering wheels and dashboards.
