PU paint and water-based paint are two different types of paints, which have obvious differences in composition, characteristics and applications:
Composition:
PU paint is usually a paint containing polyurethane resin, and its solvent can be an organic solvent or water. PU paint is characterized by wear resistance, chemical resistance, and good gloss and appearance retention.
Water-based paint: Water-based paint uses water as the main solvent to dissolve organic pigments and resins, and usually contains no or only a small amount of organic solvents. The characteristics of water-based paint are environmental protection, low VOC, and less impact on the environment and human body when used.
Performance characteristics:
PU paint has good water resistance and wear resistance, and is suitable for occasions with high requirements for coating durability. PU paint can form a thicker coating, usually has good chemical resistance, and is suitable for applications that require high strength and high durability.
Water-based paint is environmentally friendly, low in VOC content, usually does not contain toxic substances, and is safe to use. Water-based paint is suitable for indoor applications, such as wall coatings, furniture coatings, etc., but may be slightly inferior to PU paint in terms of water resistance and chemical resistance.
Application areas: PU paint is often used in wood, metal surfaces, automotive paint, industrial equipment and other places that require durability and high strength. Water-based paint is mainly used for indoor walls, furniture, decorative materials, etc., especially in places with high requirements for the environment and human health. Drying and curing: PU paint usually takes a long time to dry and cure, especially organic solvent-based PU paint. Water-based paint dries quickly and usually does not require a long wait before the next process can be carried out.
